'What idiots have I hired? You can't even handle this little thing and think you are fit to work for Raghunathan? Get lost from here; you are fired." Abhishek Raghunathan shouted at the servant standing there, bowing his head.
"No, sir. We didn't know how Vermilion came on the idol because we had kept the kalash (pot) closed and opened only when Aarti got over for Arjun baba," Ramu kaka pleaded, crying.
It hurts Arjun to see the helplessness in the eyes of those who had always given him blessings and prayed for his happiness, so he requested his dad.
"Dad, it was not Ramu Kaka's mistake, and it is not a big deal. I put vermilion on Ganpati Bappa's feet after that. Waise bhi, it is just a way of taking blessings, and there is no first come, first served service. All ganpati bappa see is true devotion." Arjun tried to resonate with his dad.
"It's a big deal as it is Raghunathan's tradition of the eldest son putting Vermilion at Bappa's feat first, but obviously, how could a careless and irresponsible person like you understand and uphold the high-value traditions of Raghunathan's? And why are you still standing here? Pack your bags and leave." Abhinav's loud voice made Ramu Kaka shiver, and he started pleading with him not to take his job.
"Dad, listen, you are right, I am careless, and it was my mistake to not reach there as the pot lid started opening and upholding Ranganathan's tradition, but please don't punish Ramu Kak for my mistake. Let him stay here." Arjun pleaded.
"Please, sir. My daughter is having itp (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura), and this job is the only way to keep her alive. Please forgive me; I need this job badly. This mistake wouldn't be repeated; just give me one more chance." Ramu Kaka pleaded helplessly as his eyes filled with tears at the thought of losing his daughter.
Aryamaan and Ayushman leave from there, seeing Ramu Kaka crying and Abhishek standing there as a stone, knowing he won't melt.
"You could stay here and continue your work, Ramu Kaka; please don't cry; nothing would happen to Ashu," Arjun said, lowering Ramu Kaka's joined hands.
" ARJUN" Abhishek shouted and came near him and looked into his eyes. "I don't earn money to waste on people who put Rahunathan's reputation down. He is not staying here, and if you are so gracious, buy your own house and give him work there." He said it coldly and left from there after ordering ramu kaka to leave before he comes home today.
As Ramu Kaka goes outhouse to pack crying, Arjun runs inside, calls his friends, and makes a list of numbers who had vacant positions in the job Ramu Kaka did. He came downstairs when Ramu Kaka was leaving to give him the list.
Arjun knows that with this list, Ramu Kakawa will earn a job within this month only, but he doesn't know how he would handle these few days of medicine and shots's money, as he knows that he had finished his savings and even took some money from his grandmother, which she refused to take back from him for his daughter's surgery.
Even though his dad was not right to take the ramu kaka job, he was right when he said he had no money to help him because even though he had savings, in fact all of his pocket money except when he buys something for his brothers is in his savings account, but they are his father's money, and he can't touch it without his permission, nor has he ever done any job because Raghunathan's standards don't allow him, and he can't do an internship until college says it's necessary or his father allows it, which he had strictly refused when he asked last time.
When he reached the outhouse, he saw his brothers fighting or pushing each other to go inside, so he cleared his throat and asked, "What is going on here?""
He saw how his brothers jumped in fear but relaxed when they saw him and came running to hug him.
Ayu latches himself on his elder brother, wrapping his hands around him, soaking up the warmth his body provides in this cold home, and when Arjun brings him closer, providing him much-needed comfort, he starts complaining, "You scared us, bhaiyu."
Maan hugged him from the other side while Arjun wrapped his other arm around him as one was holding Ayu and brought him closer, keeping his head on himself and ruffling his hair softly, which brought complaints from him supporting Ayu: "We were going to have a heart attack, bhaiyu."
"Shut up, Maan, don't say rubbish things, and what were you two doing here when dad had strictly prohibited us to come outhouse? Why did you guys want to make him angry?" Arjun scolded them lightly, but seeing their fake crying face, he kissed their forehead gently.
"Ramu kaka, wait!" Arjun shouted when he saw Ramu Kaka coming out of the outhouse and removed himself from his brothers softly and went near him while Aryamaan and Ayushman followed him quietly.
"Did sir agree to forgive me?"" Ramu kaka asked with hope, seeing kids at the outhouse for the first time.
Arjun hated to break someone's hope, but he didn't have a choice, so he answered instead, "Here are the number and address of people who had a vacant position and need you."
Arjun said, giving him paper while Ayu forward some twenty to twenty-five thousand toward him.
"This is money for Ashu treatment till you get a job," Ayu said, but Ramu Kaka refused.
"No beta, how could I take this from you? I can't take this from you, and even sir would scold you if he comes to know about you giving your pocket money to me, you thinking this much was enough for me, and either way Arjun Baba had taken my tension of not finding a job by giving this list. "
"Firstly, this is for Ashu's treatment from his brothers, so nahi lene ka toh sawal hi nhi bnta (so there is no question of not taking it). Secondly, Dad won't know it because they are from my art workshops, not from pocket money, so please take it." Ayu requested and forward the money's envelope again.
"Nhi, beta. (No, child, I can't take this, and what would Abhishek sir say?" Ramu kaka politely declined, but Arjun cut him off. "You only make Ashu tie rakhi on our wrists every year, saying we are her brothers, so now we are not allowed to pay for our own sister's treatment. Please take it as a blessing from brothers." Arjun said softly, and Ramu kaka nodded while Aryamaan forwarded a card and some forms toward him.
"What is this beta? (Child)" Ramu Kaka asked, confused.
"Inspire dreams and ignite hope forms, and I have filled it for Ashu when Kaki was crying, saying the doctor had said she would need another surgery, which got passed today, so these are forms of the foundation that would cover her full expenses of the next surgery." Maan said with a smile, and Ramu kaka joined his hands, thanking them profusely, but Arjun lowered it and said, "Bado ke haat sirf ashirwad dene ke liye uthne chahiye" (The elders only have to give their blessings).
"I didn't know what good work I had done that you guys come and stand as angels in my bad times, but I wish God filled your life with happiness."
Ramu Kaka said, smiling and blessing them.
The moment Ramu Kaka left, Arjun hugged both of his brothers and said, looking at each one of their eyes, "I love you guys."
They both hugged him back tightly, hiding their faces in his chest while he held them protectively in his arms and shouted, "We love you too."
He sat on an open porch while the other two were laying on the ground, keeping their heads on his laps, and he kept roaming his hand on their hairs, looking at the setting sun, and asked, "How did you guys grow so much?"
"We are still kids, bhaiyu." They both shouted with a pout.
"You both did the right thing today, kiddo, and I am so proud of you. You guys are the most responsible and amazing brothers anybody could get," he said, kissing each of their foreheads, which brought a smile and a light pink coat to their cheeks, so they hid their faces in his lap.
"Bhaiyu," Ayu called.
"Hm" Arjun hummed
"We did what you always taught us, so if you are this amazing, we are bound to be na as we are your brothers," Ayu said with so much honesty in his eyes that Arjun was stunned.
"Yup, you always say that the biggest sin in this world is leaving someone under you feeling helpless and crushing their last hope, so when we see him feeling helpless, we can't help it." Maan states another fact, and one tear falls from his eyes—that is what he always believed. The reason why he pleaded with his father is because nothing in this world is more cruel for him than letting someone feel you are at somebody else's mercy, and he doesn't even care about it while that's your whole world.
